This cabin was taken down to the foundation and completely rebuilt with an addition to the back of the property, away from the lake. The owner felt the desire to keep calling the new home “cabin”,  as opposed to “lake home” which many of her area neighbors have commonly done. The design intention was to keep the small profile of the first family cabin, while fitting into the existing vernacular of the surrounding lake. It was also a design challenge to make ample room and comfortables spaces for the large, extended family visits and annual summer gatherings. This was realized by maintaining the low profile of the roof line, reaching back into the slope of the site to capture the space for this 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom family lake home.
