This modern home is located in the corner of Tyrol Hills, Golden Valley, Minnesota. This new construction project is part of the architect's High Performance series of homes where the design is focused on efficient energy use by using building science concepts and energy modeling, efficient plan layout, and use of modern materials. Often projects such as Passive House or Net Zero house arrive at the energy efficiency but at a high cost that is not practical for most typical home owners. This home has balanced both energy efficiency and cost by using typical construction methods with a HERS rating of 12. Other features include a 10kW roof mounted PV panels and battery back up, triple-glazed European tilt-turn windows and an electric elevator.

Multi-generation living is another feature that is built into the design where the lower level will include a future apartment for elderly parents. Access to the apartment can be made with the elevator from the garage level.
