This beautiful site is accessible by boat only or by auto over the frozen lake ice-road during the winter. The act of loading all your necessities from the car into a boat initiates the feeling of retreat and the ritual of leaving the city mindset behind. Upon arrival, all the gear is loaded onto the simple timber-structured porch where one side is screened in and one side is open with expansive lake views. The porch wraps around the cabin on all three sides, allowing maximum connection to the outdoors. The twelve foot wide quad-panel sliding door at the dining room opens up to a fully-screened porch, doubling the size of the living area which allows the space to expand and accommodate larger groups in this 1,919 square foot lake home. Inside, the owner maximized salvaged wood, from a neighbor's long-held supply, to create the dramatic interior of textures and tones reminiscent of the surrounding forest.
